John Pearson and his artBorn in Yorkshire, England, Pearson joined the faculty at Oberlin College in 1972 where he has had a distinguished career as a teacher and artist. His work has been exhibited in one-man and group shows in England, Germany, Israel, Japan, and throughout the U.S. and is included in prestigious private and public collections world-wide. Both attracted and repelled by technology, Pearson employs the computer as a source of visual information (but not of aesthetic ideas or inspiration) to create complex, hand-crafted, elegantly balanced systems of color and geometry. Pearson's work has received awards in the Cleveland May Show and is included in the permanent collection of the Cleveland Museum of Art. Works in the collection: Fresnal Series #1, Wood, acrylic paint, aluminum. Case Quad, Rockefeller Building, acquired 1996. Fresnal Series #2, Wood, acrylic paint, aluminum.
